Prof. Charles Ahn's group in the Applied Physics Department • Synthesized 5 new materials at the atomic scale using molecular beam epitaxy (MBE) for semiconductor and quantum memory applications. • Performed synchrotron x-ray experiments to characterize crystal structure of materials at the atomic scale. - Used Python and MATLAB to derive crystal structure (real space) from the x-ray data (reciprocal space) - Translated mathematical models of x-ray diffraction/scattering process into Python/MATLAB code for simulation and data fitting • Coordinated multiple interdisciplinary/interagency research projects concurrently as the lead author: - Monolayer ZrO2-Si for novel semiconductor device with Intel (patent application) - Er-doped TiO2 for quantum memory with Princeton (1st author publication) - Mg2TiO4 for interlayer excitons with theorists at Yale (1st author publication) Show less
