I am involved in all Town Planning tasks and situated directly under the Head Professional Town of the structure company. My tasks including developing Town Planning and Urban Design Development Framework for City of Cape Town and Western Cape projects, which include integrated Catalytic Projects. This process includes reviewing and evaluating existing areas, assisting with guiding planning principles to encourage holistic developments and ensure that developments are assessed against environmental sensitivity criteria and to promote impactful socio-economic development. Performance tasks include rezoning applications, writing and developing data for project motivation, high-level editing, performing detailed situational analysis and putting forth new development proposals which align with both community needs and government objectives and priorities. All whilst, developing partnering relationships with clients such as Western Cape and City government officials. Show less

My focus within the Human Settlement department was in the Forward Planning Unit. This consists of the development and mainstreaming of the Living Cape Framework. The framework marked the redirection of the department, focusing on three main shifts: 1) From providing housing to providing sustainable human settlements, 2) Reaping the urban dividend and 3) Adjusting the role of the State from a provider to an enabler. I provided on-going high-level research on all the proposals, identifying additional tools and stakeholder agreements which will assist in implementing the proposals. I assisted with the planning of documentation by identifying visual content and imagery. I provided stakeholder and project management support and kept a record of commitments which were made to implement the proposals proposed by the Living Cape Framework. I worked closely with the Director of Planning and Deputy Director of Forward Planning, brainstorming potential planning opportunities, implementation and change management strategies to facilitate the mainstreaming of the Living Cape Framework across provincial departments and external stakeholders. As part of my experience within the Department, I provided feedback on municipal documents, creating an active link to municipal planning and provincial strategic plans, making sure municipal development were aligned to the strategic development of South Africa. This was achieved by providing comments on Municipal Human Settlement plans and assessing project readiness. Through project analysis I was also exposed to the Western Cape Human Settlement Business Plan and Readiness Matrix. The task of gathering and checking municipal funding allocation provided me with the financial insight into municipal projects which will direct future municipal planning. Show less

ARG is an interdisciplinary built environmental firm, which specialises in architecture, planning and urban design. Experience within the architecture team consisted of developing architectural concepts, designing technical plans in Revit, CAD, and ArchiCAD. I provided 3ds Max rendered models to provide insight into realistic design finishes and options. All plans were informed by architectural norms and standards legislation. Working with the planning team further developed my design capabilities to think and implement on a variety of scales. Being a part of the team, enabled me to conduct various site analyses, perform desktop studies, develop case studies and develop visual communication tools used for tender documents. I also assisted with advanced editing of planning project proposals for the CoCT catalytic projects. This further developed my understanding of our African cities and our current urban realities, attempting to find a balance between social economic and environmental sustainability. Show less
