MIDDEN serves as the knowledge exchange platform for the energy transition of the Dutch industry and the Climate Agreement. Within the scope of this project, the emissions from biochemical/thermochemical conversion of Dutch biofuel industries are studied. Participated in a consultant team 'Consuntansea' for a client (Oceans of Energy) project as part of my Energy science masters programme in Utrecht University. This helped me to gain valuable insights from the development of offshore wind and adapting them for assessing the cost development of offshore PV in the rough sea conditions. This has become significantly important as the world is continuously moving towards sustainability and increase in the penetration of renewable energy raises the demand for amount of land. To prevent it from competing with agriculture, urbanization and nature, offshore renewable sources must be exploited to meet the demand for sustainable energy. Moreover, the insights from this project are in the form of fifteen key factors found by conducting a Technological innovation system (TIS) analysis on the past development of offshore wind. The impact of all key factors is expressed in potential cost development for offshore PV. Since, it's the first comparison between offshore wind and offshore PV, the lack of data on components and performance of offshore PV makes the accuracy of predictions difficult. To better assess the future cost developments, a pilot offshore PV project is required to show that it has the potential to become a vital technology. Show less
