Cancer Research Intern

Jan 2016 - Apr 2016
Interned in the Biology Department, Cancer Research. The purpose of this research is to determine whether this SNP of the ST2 gene can also be related to cancer. • Earlier research prove that ST2( cancerous gene) is resistant to the antibiotic ampicillin. The goal was to use an expression vector and insert the ST2 gene into this plasmid. Once this was complete, the plasmid was placed with the ST2 gene on a LB plate with ampicillin. The bacteria grew and those colonies were used to make a starter culture. The starter culture was then used in a Qiagen HiSpeed Maxi Prep to clone the bacteria to further analyze changes in the sequences. Show less
