Kevin is a hardworking, conscientious, pro-active individual, who is happy to respond to any challenge, even those outside of his comfort zone. He is extremely technical, with a lot of knowledge and experience of both development and support, across different technologies. He is self motivated and will take it upon himself to expand his knowledge in areas that are new to him. He is a real team player, who will happily mentor others within the team and take the lead when needed. He has been a key contributor to the success of a number of high profile projects within the London Market, often being brought in to troubleshoot problems. It has been a real pleasure working with Kevin and I cannot recommend him highly enough.

I have known and worked with Kevin for around 15 years. Where do I begin. Firstly, Kevin is one of the nicest guys I know and was a real pleasure to work with. His breadth and depth of knowledge is excellent and he also has the rare ability to be able to translate technical to business and vice versa. Kevin would be a real asset to any organisation and I would have no hesitation in highly recommending him.

Service owner for high priority systems where I oversaw system upgrades, monitored performance, improved stability, introduced improved processes, reduced costs. A major offshoring exercise involving all mainframe development and production support roles was undertaken. Worked on several high profile projects, one requiring in-depth investigations of old code (some Assembler) due to the lack of documentation. I easily adapted to unfamiliar working procedures and was heavily involved in analysis, spec writing and system testing as well as coding changes on the ISS online and BOLP batch systems for the Debt Management Load (DML) project. Invited to work as a programmer on the “Procurement of goods not for resale” project to replace hand written stock controlling methods. Despite extremely tight timescales and high pressure, it was successfully deployed on time. I easily adapted to unfamiliar working procedures, documented, coded and tested new batch reports and the “Raise Requisition” and “Authorise Requisition” online screens. LORS (Lloyd’s Outward Reinsurance System) was developed to improve the accuracy and efficiency of data entry for re-insurance business by incorporating EDI messaging. • Liaised closely with technical experts, including IBM, to learn new message translation software and produce a detailed design for a first of its kind, event-driven system. It was developed to spec and still consistently delivers an error free service. I received recognition from IBM for my design. • Programmed all applications (PL/1, CICS, SQL,DB2) that interfaced with the translation software providing a stable, accurate service. • Created EDIFACT message structures and defined the security and mapping of data to enable approved brokers and syndicates to seamlessly interact with LORS.
