      • As Materials Manager I reported directly to the Operations Director, with the responsibility for Purchasing, Stock Control and the Goods Inwards Warehouse. I managed a staff of 20 to ensure the economic availability of Raw Materials required for Production, tracking material availability as a key metric linked ultimately to lines on time in full to our Customers. • My procurement role controlled a £18M spend across 22 countries and 11 currencies. This expenditure was divided across an active Vendor base of 450, sourcing about 2,500 ingredients, chemicals, packaging and components. • I initiated a Supplier Development programme, to significantly reduce this Vendor base to engineer cost benefits and when I left at the end of 2009 it had reduced to 205. • Typically, I achieved year on year savings of between 2 -4% through alternate sourcing programmes, long term agreements and firm negotiations with incumbent Suppliers. • The spend was spread over a range of commodities, such as Chemicals, Plastics, Food and Pharmaceutical, which provided a wide exposure to different styles of buying and selling. • In addition, I had responsibility for some Indirect spend at the site which included Utilities, Travel and a Fleet of 54 Company cars. • The Materials management element of my role was handled by SAP, using its MRP functionality to co-ordinate and control our activities. The MM module was implemented in 1995 and I ensured it became embedded into the site culture in my early years in this role. Subsequently, I championed wider adoption of wider functionality to realise benefits through greater integration across the Supply Chain.
