The Progressive Education Lab is a small teacher training program created by four progressive education schools: The Cambridge School of Weston, The Unquowa School, The Calhoun School, and The Putney School. The two-year program is designed to give the fellows a diverse and intensive look at teaching and learning in a progressive school environment. The purpose of the program is to train teachers to be a powerful and engaging force in the classroom. As a first year fellow, I spend a few months at each of the four schools, working with a mentor teacher to study teaching pedagogy, observe master teachers, and gain hands on teaching experience in the classroom. Next year I will have the opportunity to teach for the entire year at one of the four schools in the program.

Worked for two years on a small, diversified organic farm in Midcoast Maine. I worked with a small crew and the two owners to manage all elements of operating the farm. The farm grew a diverse array of vegetables, raised pigs, sheep, chickens, and cows for farmer's markets, restaurants, and local grocers. In addition to the daily tasks of farming and caring for animals, I also milked the cows most evenings and staffed the farmer's market stand. Working at Dandelion Spring Farm remains one of the most valuable working and living experiences in my life. I miss the farm dearly and I look forward to a time when I can return to share in this wonderful place again.
