Kevin and I worked together at a company a few years back. His responsibilities were to manage our phone systems in our facility. He was often challenged with new additions needing to be designed in or undoing some of the past mistakes of others who didnt know what they were doing. Kevin was instrumental in helping my team get up and running flawlessly. My team was mostly outbound dialers prospecting to build pipeline for the company. so having a reliable and easy to use phone system was key. Kevin made sure we always were taken care of and always made to when issues popped up to resolve them quickly. Kevin even worked nights and weekends when needed.       Staples hired me specifically to handle one particular customer, the Fremont Unified School District (FUSD). FUSD was comprised of 32 locations, which included schools and different types of administration and maintenance buildings. However, this particular customer had a multitude of different types of telephone systems, none of which I was formally trained, and they were all tied together through the District Office. FUSD’s maintenance contract was worth approximately $100,000.00 annually and it was my sole responsibility to keep them satisfied and the systems up and running in proper working condition. I was able to accomplish this task, and year after year Staples Communications was able to count on their maintenance contract renewal while I was assigned as their technician. Show less

      My introduction to customer service began in 1982 when I secured my first telecom job. I was hired by the telephone installation and repair department, at GTE of California. I learned very quickly that GTE in Los Gatos, as a company, had one of the worst reputations for servicing their customers imaginable. Since our department met the customers, face to face, on a daily basis, it was our responsibility to change the customer’s perception. As a result, I received many customer recognition letters throughout my tenure with GTE. Most of these letters commended me for my customer service skills and my “can do attitude” to get the job done right. Once I left GTE I spent the next decade moving from one telephone technician position to another. One of the stops along the way was with Executone / Staples Communications. Show less
