  After several years experience developing business opportunities and managing contracts for ACE Refrigeration, I was promoted to Technical Director in 1997.Since then the department has grown as we drive the company through a period of continued growth, year on year, despite the recent economic downturn.We specialise in the indemnified design and installation of refrigeration systems for some of the biggest names in the catering, food processing, health and pharmaceuticals industries throughout the UK, Europe and beyond.As energy efficiency becomes a top priority for many companies requiring refrigeration, we are constantly investing in developing new technologies and products to offer customers the best solutions to meet their needs.Energy efficiency is at the heart of everything we do here at ACE Refrigeration.For some organisations, refrigeration costs can represent more than 50 % of their energy bill, and 20 % of that can be wastage.A modern and energy-efficient refrigeration system will help save you money; we know where energy savings can be made and how to get cost-effective and efficient systems up and running in your business.Our in-house design team also offer indemnified designs with a focus on energy savings of up to 25% over traditional applications, incorporating temperature monitoring systems.Replacing tired and inefficient equipment can have a major benefit on your operating costs – some of our recent installations have had a payback period of less than 2 years based on the energy savings received; some customers have saved up to 25% off their energy bills.Also for some of our customers in the UK, we have been able to help secure substantial grant funding for the replacement and renewal of outdated plant.My main role is to listen to what customers require and offer them the best solutions to meet their needs now and for the future, exceeding their expectations, on time and within budget.

• Contracts Manager

  As Contracts Manager for ACE Refrigeration I was responsible for overseeing all installation projects from the start through to completion, ensuring that all work was completed on time and within budget. This involved working on a wide variety of projects, from large single installations to several smaller developments. At all times, I was the first point of contact for clients, site managers and sub-contractors for as long as each contract lasted so efficient communication was vital. Health and safety was also a top priority in this role, as well as managing client expectations.

  Worked on the design of a wide variety of Refrigeration systems and equipment; all bespoke designs to suit customers’ individual requirements.

  From fish factories to hospitals, from hotels to pharmaceutical companies; teams of ACE Refrigeration engineers across the country are working hard to keep your refrigeration and air conditioning systems running, and your business operational.During this time, I was responsible for leading the Service & Maintenance Department and the teams of dedicated helpdesk staff and engineers who work together to achieve a service, which is fast, effective and reliable.Our reputation has been built upon our attention to detail and rapid reaction times.To help minimise equipment breakdown and the inevitable disruption to our customers' business, we offer highly competitive maintenance contracts, individually tailored to meet individual needs.This was a challenging role which offered the opportunity to deal with a wide variety of customers, all with differing requirements and priorities.

• Refrigeration Design & Installations Engineer

  I left the family company in 1980 and travelled to work in South Africa to gain more experience in refrigeration design and installation work. Whilst in South Africa, I worked on a number of large supermarket installations and a variety of refrigeration projects for a period of three years before returning home to Scotland and ACE Refrigeration. • Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Engineer

  During this time I gained invaluable experience in field service and installation work on all makes and types of commercial refrigeration, as duty engineer and weekend standby for emergency callout work.

  I joined the family company Automatic Cooling Engineers Ltd, trading as ACE Refrigeration, in 1972. Initially I served a six year apprenticeship, during which time I also gained a City & Guilds certificate in Refrigeration and Air Conditioning from the city's Springburn College.
