During the consultations I offer advice on how to improve energy/water efficiency, waste reduction practices, and pollution prevention strategies, which help businesses meet their environmental goals of decreasing their impact on the environment and increasing the health/safety of their workers. My duties also include social media outreach, and public speaking. I have presented at several ABAG/ California Green Business Network meetings, as well as represented SFE while there. I have hosted multiple Green Business workshops and mixers. Along with Anna Frankel, I organized the 2011 Green Business awards attended by over two hundred people, co-managed the SFGBP intern, and presented at the Western Sustainability Pollution Prevention Network Conference in Sacramento. Along with the day-to-day operations of supporting businesses through the SFGBP, I oversaw and administered the San Francisco Clean Technology Payroll Expense Tax Exclusion. Clean technology businesses in San Francisco receiving the tax exclusion are required to be a certified Green Businesses. It was my responsibility to determine eligibility based on the clean technology definition described in the ordinance. I also supported the clean technology companies through the SFGBP, and compiled a list of all eligible clean technology businesses for the tax exclusion at the end of the year. This involved motivating occupants in the building to sign a pledge promising to turn off their lights and power strips at the end of each day.
