      Urology Outreach has been officially launched in January 2012 and is a dream come true! The main aims of UO are: 1. A reduction in the number of day ward and endoscopy attenders and a total shift of care for overnight admissions to the community setting 2. A resultant increase in the time that ward nurses can allocate to the in-patients 3. A reduction in the rate of associated HAIs and their related expenses 4. A shift of specialized services, the provision of evidence based patient and staff support, and individualized educational encounters with the aim of reducing the need for acute admissions. Staff: One Practice/Charge Nurse, one senior Staff Nurse and one clerical assistant. Current turnover is on average 190 patients per month....80 of which are seen in the community. The patients we care for usually need: Trials without urinary catheter Post micturition residual scans Assessments of change of catheter Changes of suprapubic and difficult urethral catheters Catheter troubleshooting Educational sessions to patients living with long term catheters Teaching of self catheterisation Show less
