Continuing in my previous role in a new company due to divestment, I have helped with the separation of our cloud infrastructure to create our new Infrastructure, including taking over management of all edge connectivity, migration of firewalls, customer VPNs and vnet routing from the previous team. Other challenges in the same short divestment time period include configuring new office infrastructure and secure connectivity from scratch on the Cisco Meraki platform, building a new AWS environment in Ansible to migrate existing services to and assisting with rebuild of much of the Azure environment due to encryption complications. I have expanded my skillset and experience significantly in my time at BAE Systems Applied Intelligence. Joining as a monitoring specialist I was quickly able to establish myself as a key point of contact across a wide range of technologies including Linux, networking, Apache Ambari (Hadoop) administration, as well as having a strong grasp of the overall architecture of all the systems supporting the Managed Security Services unit.

Senior Systems Administrator
-
Nov 2013 - Oct 2015
As the only senior sysadmin responsible for provisioning, maintenance and management of all internal and website systems, I rebuilt the infrastructure from the ground up, replacing standalone systems and SOHO networking gear with clustered virtualised systems and enterprise grade gear, including managing the migration from inadequate ADSL connectivity to FTTP, as well as upgrading SOHO access points to warehouse grade wifi. One of the key additions was to significantly expand the amount of monitoring such that most issues could be identified and fixed proactively ahead of any outage causing issues. Show less
