  The Massachusetts Amateur Sports Foundation was created in 1982 with the mission of promoting Heath, Fitness, Recreation, Sportsmanship and Personal Development through sports events and programs for citizens of Massachusetts of all ages and abilities including several Adaptive Sports. The Bay State Summer Games began in 1982 with four sports and the Bay State Winter Games began in 1985 with three sports. Since this modest beginning the Summer and Winter Games now include over 30 different sports. In addition, the Foundation has expanded to include Scholarship Programs, a Sportsmanship Program, the School Ambassador Program, the Bay State Games Hall of Fame, a Sports Medicine Symposium and the Adopt An Athlete Program to provide opportunities for participants in need. All programs and day to day operations of the Foundation are run by a full time staff of three employees supplemented by summer interns and a volunteer force of over 1,000. Skills demonstrated as Executive Director include: Event & Operation Management, Finance and Staff Management, Fundraising, Public Relations and Marketing.
