Kevin is a truly influential technical lead, he completely transformed the engineering culture when he joined our team, introducing many of the practices of extreme programming, notably pair programming and test driven development. He was a passionate advocate for lean theory ensuring we lived agile values everyday and approached our work with the aim of delivering small, incremental value. He also instilled a DevOps culture leading our approach to automated testing, automated deployments and configuration as code enabling our team to achieve continuous delivery to production. As an engineer Kevin is easily the most informed and knowledgeable person I have worked with, his approach to architecture and system design have created incredibly elegant and pragmatic solutions and he has written some of the most inspired code I have ever seen. If you are looking for a CTO or Head of Engineering to transform your business and to lead with passion then you won't find a better candidate than Kevin.

I was responsible for a small development team, being involved in all aspects of the SDLC for that team from requirements gathering through to analysis and implementation. While at NES, I introduced many new technologies, tools and practices including TDD, JIRA, Confluence, sprint retrospectives, proper story breakdown and estimation, SOLID principles, continuous delivery, automated testing, AWS. I was responsible for implementation of software to control mobile ground stations (news vans and flyaways) for the broadcast and IP markets. The software managed a suite of hardware components, autonomously establishing a satellite uplink, downloading the broadcast schedule, programming the encoder and receiver settings, and bringing up and down the transmission at the correct times and frequencies. The various hardware devices communicated on proprietary protocols using RS-232,RS-422,TCP/IP, HTTP, UDP, SNMP.
