- I have successfully managed a team in the introduction of New Product Development (NPD) projects from an Engineering perspective (Stage V engines, New BHL project design – Concept to Proto). Timescales were met within the scope of both projects and projects costs were successfully managed along with new component creation.- I initially managed and actioned the care of maintenance for current BHL products alongside the NPD work, successfully prioritising workloads to ensure changes were delivered within agreed timescales.- While in charge of the BHL product it was my job to ensure product compliance to EN 474-1 and 474-4 and to ensure Homologation requirements were met for machines in different markets as required by the business sales team.- I have been responsible for designing the BHL hydraulic system and determining testing requirements to provide customers with the operating experience they would expect.- It has been my job throughout this role to control the engineering change process on BHL from an engineering perspective. To successfully action this it was my job to review all engineering change requests, agree actions with the design team and review drawing changes/ engineering change paperwork prior to production implementation and within agreed business guidelines.- More recently, since the BHL product moved to Turkey (2021), I successfully managed the introduction of a new engine model onto 6-9 Ton dumpers to sensitive timescales and ensured its successful introduction into production as well as overseeing various other business cost down projects to help reduce Bill of Material costs to the business.- Along with managing projects mentioned, I've also been working on a large Dumper NPD project in hydraulic design capacity, designing the system, specifying components, liaising with suppliers and ensuring product costs are maintained within the project budget as best as moving material prices have allowed. - I managed the BHL team of up to four people on an interim basis, balancing workloads, reviewing personal development, agreeing testing requirements for any design changes actioned and reviewing Engineering changes prior to release to the product change team.- I managed the introduction of New product project introductions (Stage V engines) and oversee Maintenance of design from an Engineering perspective, releasing changes within agreed timescales.- I was responsible for BHL hydraulic systems, design, maintenance, testing requirements.- I actively managed change/ improvement of process improvements within the engineering design remit to remove Non Value Added work within the department. - I was primarily responsible for BHL hydraulic systems, design, customer problem resolution and testing requirements. - I led the Introduction to a new hydraulic system on a new Rental spec backhoe loader. This involved hydraulic system design, specifying all major components within the system and working closely with suppliers to tune the machine to achieve maximum performance for the customer. The hydraulic saving achieved was a large portion of the overall machine saving achieved on the project (circa £3000 reduction from the previously lowest cost model). - I completed a full-scale review of what improvements would be required to ensure machines leave the business meeting the required cleanliness of the components fitted to the machine. - I was also responsible for the machine operator environment (Machine Cab) and machine structural design changes whilst new team members were being acquired. - Towards the end of this I began to oversee New Product Project Introductions from an Engineering perspective, directing the Backhoe engineering team whilst assisting the Head of Engineering since his transition from Engineering Manager. - I also ran a Value Analysis/ Value Engineering (VAVE) Design Optimisation program on the Backhoe loaders to determine where designs can be improved to remove areas that are non-value added. - I was second in command looking after a team releasing two new models of telescopic handlers into production (JLG 3614RS and 4017RS). - My role included the distribution of work to the team members, directing team members to resolve any issues in the designs discovered by test or design analysis. - It was my job to clearly and concisely report back the status of project issues and explain all temporary and final solutions along with their projected resolution dates using 8D problem solving tools. - Although only here a short time comparatively I very quickly learnt the business systems and product in order to be able to successfully achieve project timescales of pilot build machines. - It was my job to achieve swift resolution to pilot built problems on site at the Belgium production facility and determine ways of continuing build and also what was needed to resolve the issue for full production. - I was the Design representative of a cross-functional team handpicked by the general manager, I was relocated to a bespoke office with a purchasing representative and a manufacturing representative. A variety of design review events were then undertaken on the 3Ton dumper based on concept models I had created. A saving of over £500 was eventually realised based on 3 events on this machine. - I led cost saving reviews on 2012 machine BOM and also led a small team to introduce fabrication savings along with automotive throttle controls on 1ton Dumper. - I led various aspects of a number of field fix and machinery improvements that were required following service issues with existing designs (Corrosion on Algerian machines, Significant hose wear through sideshift area of Backhoe Loader).
