Harper International Is a leading provider of thermal processing equipment for the carbon fiber and emerging material industries, offering solutions for the most demanding applications. Since I began there in October 2016 the company has grown from a $30M to a $70M company. As Director of Engineering I have 3 direct reports and a total staff of 28 PE/PM, Mechanical Engineers, Electrical Engineers and Designers. In addition to the Electrical Engineers working on the design of power systems, we have a staff of PLC programmers. The engineering team is responsible for supporting aftermarket, field service; provides application support, and manufacturing engineering support. Enterprise Impact: o Project Management oversight of New Orders and Special Projects. o Development of a line of Configurable furnace to expedite time to market. o Outsourcing of Engineering to help facilitate business growth. The outsourcing included both Mechanical and Electrical Design work. o Recruiting and developing new electrical and mechanical engineers. o Established cross-functional team to help develop carbon fiber ovens to support the largest single order in the history of the company. o Worked with supply chain to develop new sources of supply to produce oven project. o Conducted RCA’s to drive continuous improvement. o Collaborated with PMO to develop necessary RACI (responsible, accountable, consulted and informed) and stage gate matrix.
