Speaking as one of Kevin’s direct reports for almost 5 years, he’s had an immeasurable positive impact on my professional development as a technical program manager than anyone else in my career. Kevin is a wealth of knowledge and experiences, understanding way more both inside and outside his engineering discipline and domain areas than anyone should. His technical proficiencies combined with his ability to understand people and varying dynamics, is what sets him apart as a manager and leader. His leadership on Loon was transformational for the engineering organization; starting as a design engineer, to forming, leading and managing what became the Bus Engineering team, a crossfunctional team of engineers responsible for Loon’s flight chassis, power and health monitoring systems and so much more. He instilled confidence in me, provided guidance but gave enough space to let me make my own decisions, went to bat for his team and our work, gave meaningful feedback, asked the right questions, made decisions when no one else would, and most uniquely, cared for his team as people first and employees second. Kevin’s contagious energy and witty humor will not only make any day at work a fun one, but will keep a room alert and engaged no matter the topic. Kevin is largely what made my time on Loon so special and will without a doubt leave the same positive influence on others professional lives as he’s had on mine.

I had the pleasure of working with Kevin at Alphabet/Loon for close to 3 years. Kevin is a kind, passionate leader who has the technical chops to lead engineering organizations. He is a skilled communicator who is equally comfortable representing his company to customers as resolving conflicts between strong personalities. His unique leadership style energizes his teams to deliver while making work fun. Kevin takes pride in representing those who work for him and seamlessly navigates across organizations to drive execution. With outstanding interpersonal skills, technical expertise, and a friendly personality, Kevin instills a healthy culture in the teams he leads. I would unequivocally recommend Kevin to anyone who has the opportunity to work with him.
