In 1994, I became the first woman to lead this program that has positively impacted over 105,000 people from 80 countries. In addition to being a lead instructor for the English Money and You programs, I am proud to be the lead for our Instructors Training Program both in the United States and Asia. Based on a business that grew a $25,000 investment into a $60 million business in less than 3 years, the program encompasses the big picture of business, the science of learning from mistakes, Dr. R. Buckminster Fuller's generalized principles, the difference between money and wealth, and belief's that support or inhibit your success and life's purpose. Money and You is taught using accelerated learning and guarantees that you will generate a transformational experience in the 3 ½ days. Teaching Kids to Care From 2001 to 2011, I devoted myself to contributing to the success of Kids Korps USA, a non-profit organization dedicated to instilling the spirit of giving and community service in youth and young adults ages 5-25. Over a ten-year period of time, I brought my brand of development to help ensure that Kids Korps provided programs that have an indelible and unique impact beyond the many benefits of volunteerism. It is my passion for giving young people the exposure to, and direct involvement in, community service that I believe creates lifelong benefits to these young volunteers, including an increase in their level of maturity, empathy, and a new and positive perspective on how they can make the world a better place. Due to my direct support in the area of planning and development, Kids Korps raised millions of dollars, primarily through events such as the Kids Korps annual Gala. This event became an annual San Diego affair and was so inspiring that Larry King donated his time and energies to it year after year as well. I am grateful that my time, talent and expertise contributed to Kids Korps generating 22,000 volunteer service members who have donated well over 500,000 volunteer hours. And, this service has had an impact on more than 1.2 million people and has contributed service valued at nearly $12 million to San Diego County, all while emphasizing the importance of developing key leadership skills through youth volunteer activities. A New Relationship with Giving After returning from living in Melbourne, Australia, I devoted my talent as the Major Gifts Director for the United Way of San Diego County's Alexis de Tocqueville Society. I am proud that I reinvigorated the organization’s relationship with what it means to give back at a level that truly personifies one’s commitment. Instead of only targeting high net worth individuals, Kerry proposed that giving was inspired by passion, and, that any person would give at a higher level when they were inspired and enrolled in the vision. As a result, United Way saw an exponential increase in the number of donors and donor families which resulted in more resources to give back to communities. Show less

Creating Disarmament between the Super Powers - In 1985, Linda Smith had a dream to commemorate the 40th anniversary of Hiroshima with a public outpouring of support for peace. It turned out to be the largest public gathering in San Diego's history at that time. After the walk was over, there were over 40,000 individuals who wanted to know what was next. Thus, MEND (Mother’s Embracing Nuclear Disarmament) was born. Over the next 5 years, Kerry created programs and initiatives that reached tens of thousands of people worldwide. From one public demonstration, an organization was born that included 32 chapters in the U.S., Russia and India. On Common Ground, an incredibly successful US/Soviet exchange of mothers and children created dialogue and community and included meetings with Al Gore, Mikhail Gorbachev and the US and Soviet Ambassadors. “A Concerned Citizen’s Introduction to National Security” was written and distributed to universities and high schools across the country. And, “Reflections on War and Peace…Children Speak Out” was an international children’s art and essay contest that asked the question, “When you think of war and peace, what do you see?” to children 16 and under. The MEND community included many scholars, activists and celebrities including: Al Gore, Jonas Salk, Bill Galt, Abigail Van Buren, Wallis Annenberg, Dr. Helen Caldicott, Joan Kroc, Rear Admiral Gene LaRocque, Jack Lemmon, Carl Sagan, Robin Williams, and more. Moving to Telluride, Colorado at the age of 22, I knew that I wanted to create something that had never been done before. At that time, Telluride had little civic activity. With a partner, I re-established the Chamber of Commerce which had been closed for many years and enrolled a new membership base of 100% of the community businesses in the first year. From my office in a jail cell from the 1800’s, I negotiated with the town council to “Bury the Hatchet” and paved the way for the current airport and Mountain Village. Within 18th months, there was a second chamber office and a volunteer staff of fifteen. I incentivized my volunteers by creating a strategic partnership with the ski company to donate ski passes for a high level commitment. Planning and orchestrating many civic and tourist-oriented programs and special events, Telluride truly was the gem that I wrote about in the town brochure, "A Complete Vacation Guide to the City of Gold."
