    • Finance Intern
      • Sep 2012 - Jul 2013

Whilst working as an Intern for Oxford Brookes University, I developed a range of universal skills, as well as enabling me to put the skills I already had into practice. For instance, I was able to improve the way information was being recorded and processed using my knowledge of finance and Microsoft Excel. I believe this shows my ability to be proactive in my approach to work load and shows the attitude I have to progress in my personal ability as well as the team I work in. I spent 4 months working in Student Finance, 4 months in Payements and Payroll and 3 Months working in Financial Reporting.• Student Finance - Daily roles included collecting both tuition and hall payments from students. This provided key credit control and cashiering skills, whilst gaining integral experience about the management of change, due to the introduction of the £9,000 fee in 2012-13.• Payments and Payroll - Worked with both Payroll and Payments colleagues, gaining an understanding about both input of payment documents to the reconciliation of control accounts. Whilst working for Legal & General I was required to use a distinct batch of profiles to compare internal L&G prices to those of its competitors allowing me to identify key areas of risk where L&G were not as competitive. The key skills achieved include demonstrating the highest levels of motivation and organisation required to perform a mundane data collection task, but then having the opportunity to shine by putting Microsoft Excel analysis skill sets in use to produce reports exceeding customer expectations within tight deadlines.
