Bar Staff

jul 2016 - apr 2022
My previous employment was with The Cock Inn Public House in Luddesdown. As bar-staff my duties include managing stock, serving customers, checking that all our real ales are served correctly and changing barrels when needs be. I also clean for a few hours on my day off, making sure the pub looks the best it can.I believe my people skills are constantly improving; serving a wide range of people from all different backgrounds as well as dealing with those same people whilst they are inebriated, can be challenging but I have the skills to calm situations and take control. I am constantly juggling responsibilities, having to make sure customers are served, fires are made up and kept burning during winter and checking we are constantly stocked up, all whilst making sure the pub is kept clean and tidy.I have passed my BIIAB personal license course with which I can attain a personal license, legally enabling me to be in charge of any event where alcohol is permitted to be sold, it also allows me to be in charge of the public house if the license holders wish to go out. As we work in quite a small team it takes a lot of compromise and team work to organise holiday covers and any shifts that need to changed around.

I was employed by Martin Mccolls in the Riverview branch as a shop assistant, I would serve customers and make up the papers each morning, and generally help the manager in any way so that the shop could run to the best of its abilities. This job helped developed my people skills further as I had to deal daily with customers that had issues with things such as papers being unavoidably delayed etc, and I often had to calm tempers and confusion when people had problems with items. During my time there I received training regarding check 25 which was put into use when I passed the check 25 test, a young looking undercover shopper was sent in to buy alcohol, I checked her ID before accepting the sale. It also during this employment that I had the responsibility of making sure alcohol was only sold during the designated hours and often had to diffuse situations with customers who wanted to buy alcohol before those times.
