  Developed complete process simulation for the refinery operations and created Exchanger Design Rating files for 50+ heat exchangers , as part of a team of Process Engineers. This facilitated accurate, efficient and detailed performance assessments and enhanced technical decision making for the refinery process equipment. Lead engineer in the production of new grade asphalt at the refinery, Performance Grade 70-22 Asphalt. This was done through the optimization of the vacuum unit and modification to operational targets, negating the need for asphalt modifiers generally needed for this PG quality. Total savings of ~US$474,000 in expenses was yielded, enabling maximum sale profit margin. Fixed bed platforming engineer, responsible for monitoring, optimizing and maximizing the refinery's gasoline production. Lead the recovery of platformer catalyst from premature deactivation, circumventing the need of an unplanned regeneration and reduction in company's profit margin. Conduct performance assessments and evaluations on refinery equipment including heat exchangers, pumps, control loops, compressors and fired heaters. Details from evaluations are utilized for key technical decisions, to optimize, improve and maximize refinery operations. Analyzed weekly and monthly energy consumption data and provide recommendations to improve the energy efficiency of the refinery and the overall Energy Intensity Index. Designed hydraulic simulation for the cooling water system, identifying areas of low pressure and flow and provided recommendations to improve deficiencies. Show less
