    • Volunteer at House Mill, Bromley-by-Bow
      • Oct 2021 - Aug 2022

At House Mill, an at-risk heritage site in Bromley-by-Bow, London, I worked on producing digital and physical content for the purposes of marketing and education. This exercise also culminated in a pitch to the board members and heritage experts, who highlighted the quality of visual media I had composed. Further, I built trusting and strong relationships with the volunteers and board members of the Mill. Listening to their requests and ideas for the direction of the Mill’s future allowed me to generate informed and value adherent strategies and content. Returning to the Mill in 2022, I assisted with general tidying and clearing out of the Mill ready for new initiatives in collaboration with coursemates at UCL's Institute of Archaeology. Undertaking this voluntary initiative alongside my intensive studies instilled the importance of time management and balance in my schedule, a key skill which I have embedded in approaches elsewhere. I have thoroughly enjoyed my time as a volunteer at Killerton House. Acting as a guide, I successfully interpreted and consolidated visitor interests in varying aspects of the House, its history, and its people. Further, engaging with points of interest such as The Forestry Commission, I successfully linked the House to current themes and concerns in line with National Trust aims and objectives. During my tenure at the House, I also engaged with interpretive activities with children, successfully exploring the narrative of Killerton through activities and object work, such as miniature rug-making and costume. Lastly, an element of this experience that has empowered me in further work is the forging of interpersonal relationships with other volunteers, which enriched and underpinned the knowledge and narratives that I was able to communicate to visitors. I provided legal research and undertook audit activities as part of an in-house Legal and Audit Team in the Bank, part of the Provident Financial Group. For my audit work I was expected to self-manage, preparing and executing audits. I planned, carried out and reported on the audits I was assigned to in relation to customer outcomes. Additionally, I carried our legal research for the lawyers. This summer job provided me with valuable insight and understanding of the commercial world, and I was fortunate to interact with all levels of colleagues, from the MD through to customer service teams. I had to work to demanding deadlines and produce accurate and precise audits, given the nature of the business. Show less
