Executive Director and Festival Creator
-
Jan 2014 - Present
Winterfilm is a month-long short film competition aimed at giving filmmakers a chance to create a short film during the notoriously slow winter months that will give them a solid work to enter in larger film festivals. Emphasis is on storytelling and the craft of filmmaking. Instead of rushing and trying to throw a short film together over a weekend, Winterfilm spans an entire month, and the criteria is broad enough that the filmmaker can exercise their own creative ideas, tell the story they want to tell. Director of Innovative Learning Solutions
-
Apr 2015 - Feb 2019
Director of the Creative Team in UC's Center for Excellence in eLearning. My job was to lead teams that would investigate and implement new and exciting tools and techniques to enhance the student experience. In this area I drew upon my expertise in storytelling to bring a new level of engagement to the curriculum. Some of our initiatives were:iBooks Authoring - working with faculty to help them publish their self-authored eTextbooks. Lightboard and One-Button Studios - built recording spaces for faculty to create their own professional grade video content, either on their own or with the help of our experts. Articulate Storyline Community of Practice - A 100-seat enterprise implementation of Articulate's authoring tool for creating interactive content. A touring children's puppet theater, serving about a half-million kids and over 1400 shows a year all over the midwest/east coast. I designed and built mechanical puppet rigs, collapsible modular sets that could be transported all over the country in a van, generated most of the flyers and show programs, created a puppet/asset database and website for the company, and had the most amazing of times. Video Editor and Interactive Producer
-
1990 - 1999
The first five years I acted as lead video editor, cutting all of the agency's projects and interacting with our major clients. The following four involved getting the company's fledgeling interactive/web division off the ground in a very 'skunkworks'-style environment.
