I joined the vessel at the initial conversion stage in Middlesbrough, Cleveland, were I was seconded to the Commissioning team I worked alongside Commissioning Engineers on Documentation and inspection of new and used equipment. Later we worked along side the Hook-up team. On completion of these phases I assumed my role as Lead Mechanical Technician, duties consist of the planning of all day-day mechanical activities, supervising of co-workers and contract labour and delegation of tasks. We work within a Planned Maintenance system (Maximo). This system also aids us organising of spares and checking of work histories. I adopt a fault finding and problem solving approach and complete verbal and written reports. I adhere to the Companies policies and procedures at all times. My main responsibility is to keep down time to a minimum. I communicate with technical specialists and interpret technical drawings and documents and employ a good knowledge of mechanical maintenance methods and equipment. In addition to the above I mentor junior and less experienced staff, providing advice, education and counselling as appropriate. This in turn facilitates in the efficient operation of the plant.
