London, United Kingdom I have been working for KAYAK since it officially took over in August 2017 although the takeover process has been underway since the start of the year. At present, we are continuing to work on the Cheapflights and Momondo apps while we wait to discover KAYAK’s future plans. It has just been announced that the Momondo app which I have been working on exclusively for the whole of this year has been awarded the Google Material Design Innovation award for best in class app worldwide. I played a leading role in the expansion of the app to support hotel search using the Hotels Combined API by first writing a prototype to prove the proposed solution and thereby expedite the development process. During the Assisted booking project, I took the initiative to propose and then write a back-end data capture robot to provide the Travel Fusion API flight search results to the app which enabled us to leverage the existing infrastructure and saved a substantial amount of development time. I also performed a lot of product analysis activities to make sense of the very complex TravelFusion API. Additionally, I played a leading role in ensuring that all aspects of the Assisted booking price breakdown structure were a 100% accurate at all stages in the booking process, which is absolutely vital in the price comparison business. For the whole of this year I have been working exclusively on the Momondo Android app to bring it up to parity with the iOS app. I worked on a number of epics including Fare Alerts, Firebase deep links, and a new person selector, but the most significant one was the expansion of the app to support Multi-city searches which involved rewriting a lot of One-way and Return search code so that all three kinds of searches could be supported using the same code base.

London, United Kingdom From November 2013 through to July 2014 I wrote all of the Cheapflights specific, Momondo data acquisition robots for the new Cheapflights meta search websites starting with http://www.cheapflights.co.za, then .co.nz, .com.hk, .com.my, .com.ph, .com.sg, all the way through to http://www.cheapflights.com.au which was launched in July 2014. In the last year I also designed, wrote and implemented the FTP Automated Scheduling Tool (F.A.S.T.) which is a C# multi-threaded windows service which detects the arrival of FTP files and immediately runs the associated upload jobs. Any number of upload jobs can run in parallel. As a result of this new service content is now uploaded onto the website within minutes. Most recently I have designed and developed the META detector which is a comparison tool used to verify the consistency of content across our meta search websites. I have also just finished writing an early warning system to notify us of problems with our data acquisition systems which operate on a 24/7 basis.

I wrote C# web service code for the data capture from a huge number of external partners including: Amadeus, EBookers, Expedia, LastMinute, Netflights, British Airways, EasyJet, RyanAir, Virgin Atlantic, and many more. During this time I also wrote two major testing tools to meet urgent testing requirements. One tool known as the “Saved Response Service” (SRS) allows functional and soak testing of websites by firing over 500,000 requests at them every night without having to make repeated real calls to our external partners. Another tool known as the “Direct API Response Tester” (DART) allows comprehensive end user testing to supplement the TDD test frameworks we use. Show less

This role was as a C# .NET developer on the QUE$TOR product. QUE$TOR is an astonishingly advanced fully object oriented decision support tool utilising C# and the latest Microsoft .NET technologies. It is used by cost engineers and economists to analyse upstream field development projects whose capital expenditure (CAPEX) is typically in the region of $1.5 Billion and whose life time operating expenditure (OPEX) is typically in the region of $54 Billion. When I last worked on QUE$TOR it had just under a million lines of C# code. The system contained many complex costing algorithms and these algorithms had to be translated from specifications to C# code, sometimes via intermediate Excel VBA prototypes. One look at http://www.ihs.com will leave you in no doubt about the prestigious nature of this company and its product range. Show less
