    • Research Engineer
      • Oct 2006 - Oct 2012

Worked as part of a multidisciplinary product development team to create novel technologies for use in medical devices and energy conversion systems. Developed new oxygen concentration technology that enables the creation of a portable medical oxygen concentrator that is 50% lighter and able to operate twice as long on a battery charge as units with comparable oxygen output. The technology also enabled the creation of a personal oxygen concentrator that weighs approximately one pound, and a miniature wound-therapy device. Co-authored successful proposals to government agencies (NSF, NIH, and PEDA) as well as private investors. Designed and developed prototypes of a novel type of external combustion engine, and participated in a project to install parabolic trough concentrating solar-thermal panels that can be used to heat a building and generate electricity.
