With a team of students we use Machine Learning to predict the given genome sequence of a virus if the virus is zoonotic or non zoonotic. This is an important task as zoonotic viruses can pose health risks and cause a pandemic. With these findings and the knowing of what kind of viruses the animals you get into contact with possess, you can know in advance if the viruses can pose a risk or not, to your health and the human civilization. The task involved preprocessing the data and then invoking the different machine learning models: Neural Networks, Forest trees, Naïve Bayes and others. Based on accuracy scores and F1 scores we got to choose the best performing model. Show less
