Entering my seventh year of varsity high school coaching I was reunited with the defensive backs group. Additionally to my responsibilities as the secondary coach I also co coordinated the defense with the Head Coach. The duties included practice planning for the upcoming week opponent, game planning for opponents, breaking film down with Hudl software (gaining tendency knowledge, total yards allocated and other detailed information gained from watching film), implementing agreed ideas onto the… Show more Entering my seventh year of varsity high school coaching I was reunited with the defensive backs group. Additionally to my responsibilities as the secondary coach I also co coordinated the defense with the Head Coach. The duties included practice planning for the upcoming week opponent, game planning for opponents, breaking film down with Hudl software (gaining tendency knowledge, total yards allocated and other detailed information gained from watching film), implementing agreed ideas onto the playing field during practice and ensuring the details are executed during game nights. Holding the student athletes to a high standard, focusing on grades and keeping players accountable as good citizens has always remained the number one objective as a football coach. The greatest tool you can give a young student athlete is encouragement and belief in oneself that they can accomplish anything through hard work, dedication and with a focused mindset. The reward of seeing young student athletes be successful on the field and off in society is the greatest sense of accomplishment a coach can gain.
