Most emphasis is placed on the three leading causes of death on the battle field as reported in the Tactical-Combat Casualty Care model developed by the military. Responsibilities include training operators in self/buddy aide, tactical evacuation, and operations in austere environments. -The health and welfare of the operators begin far in advance to the mission. Being actively engaged with the life of your team members will ultimately lead to the success of failure as a team. To achieve peak efficiency of your team the members must be in peak physical shape and mentally strong. -As the medic it is my job to ensure that we as operators are properly informed of the current health trends and nutritional values of those items that we put in our bodies. To ensure that operators are mentally strong we must ensure that the training schedule meets the needs of the team. It is also my job description to coordinate with the team leaders to ensure that operators are being cross trained in multiple disciplines which include point of impact aide provided by the operator, close quarter combat, weapon systems, and explosives. On the Edge Skills include: Advanced Airway Management (cricothyrotomy and Rapid Sequence Intubation), Advanced Bleeding control (tourniquets, combat gauze, and hemcon dressings). Certifications include: Tactical-Combat Casualty Care, Emergency Medical Technician - Tactical, Pre-hospital Trauma Life Support, and Advanced Cardiac Life Support. Show less
