While at the Galveston Bay Foundation I assisted with projects for their various conservation and education programs. In the field, I worked to construct a "recycled" oyster shell reef to help renew oyster levels in the Galveston Bay. I assisted in transplanting native marsh grass to be used in volunteer projects to increase the protection of shoreline ecosystems. I also participated in a summer water quality research study at a local marina, taking samples and testing them for bacteria and other parameters. When not in the field, I input data from different programs, and helped create supplemental material for educational volunteer and community programs. I also assisted with educating volunteers and community members about the Foundation's programs and the environmental issues they concern. Show less
