As a result of the Alberta Health Services (AHS) merger from thirteen distinct health delivery organizations to become the single largest health delivery organization in Canada a need was identified to increase the level of rigour around business (i.e., non-IT) projects. Leveraging the best practice project management methodologies used to support AHS IT projects the Program Governance Office (PGO) was created. The primary focus of the PGO was to support the Transformation Improvement Programs (TIP) across the five primary focus areas for the merger.Acting as the single point of contact for the PGO, Ken:■ maintained and refined the PGO processes and templates;■ ensured alignment with processes and template changes in the IT PMO to minimize redundancy;■ coordinated and conducted engagement sessions with key business units (e.g. Finance, HR, Clinical Business Units, etc.) impacted by the new processes and procedures;■ facilitated navigation of the project initiation through to execution and ongoing reporting process with the executive sponsors and assigned project/program managers;■ led the development of the monthly executive dashboard; and■ responded to ad-hoc reporting requests.Additional duties included provision of ad-hoc advisory services (e.g., strategy development) for the TIP Program Leads as required.
