Few people have the opportunity to report to a manager who is also a coach and a mentor – but I did as a direct report to Ken. Ken and I worked together for over 10 years, from which 1/3 I was his direct report as Cost Accountant. I can say that I’ve grown professionally with all the challenges and changes in our organization, and a great deal with the mentorship from Ken. Reports and projects made more sense in the big picture because he always took the time to explain approaches, relations and outcomes. Working together in financial reporting, business entities consolidation, inventories and function transfers between corporate locations, I have seen firsthand Ken’s great knowledge, skills, leadership and business ethic. Ken’s knowledge of all the activities of the organization, its processes and the system to apply them, not only in the Finance Department but everywhere in the business, made him a great coach and a valuable team member. Me and everybody that he worked with would vouch for this.
