Seldom can you find a supervisor who cares so much for your individual success and personal growth as Ken. I've had the pleasure of working with him in this capacity and have found it very rewarding. He leads with a strong example and tactical vision and makes you feel confident in the work that you are doing. As a Development Associate for Ken, he was my entryway into nonprofit fundraising and sold me in to the work of development with the same charisma that draws supporters to our mission. He mentored me in fundraising, teaching me his philosophies that have contributed to his overarching success as well as best practice in all procedures. I'm grateful for Ken's tutelage and guidance and have always looked up to him as someone to model my own work to. He is a one-of-a-kind leader and an upstanding person.

It is with great pleasure that I offer my recommendation for Ken Levin without reservation. I have had the great privilege of working with Ken for nearly 3 years. As the Development Director of San Francisco Playhouse, Ken is responsible for cultivating relationships with prospective and current donors, overseeing the grant application process, and managing all fundraising campaigns including education sponsorship, corporate giving, producer/artistic underwriter gifts, end of calendar and fiscal year gifts, annual gifts, and major gifts. Ken and I work together on an ongoing basis to create budgets and financial reports for grant applications and quarterly board meetings. In my role as Business Manager/Accountant, I rely on Ken’s ability to think several steps ahead so that I can make accurate cash flow projections each week. Ken has consistently met his contributed support goals and during our 2018 fiscal year, he went above and beyond. Ken was solely responsible for raising over $1.6 million, exceeding his original goal of $1.4 million out of a $3.5 million operating budget. We successfully closed the fiscal year in good financial standing because of his diligence and unwavering dedication to the Playhouse’s mission. I can attest to his versatility as an excellent team player, astounding leader, and person of tremendous character. In addition to being one of the sharpest people I know, Ken incorporates his emotional intelligence into his work, due in large part to his extensive career in nonprofit performing arts. San Francisco Playhouse is dedicated to building a community of empathy and compassion and Ken has always been an embodiment of the company’s values. Over the years, I have heard and seen his phone and in-person interactions with our donors and board members, greeting every patron like an old friend. He is a master of building and maintaining lifelong relationships with arts patrons and professionals throughout the Bay Area and does so effortlessly with warmth, sincerity, and joy. Ken’s interactions with fellow Playhouse staff members are no different. As a manager, he teaches and trains his direct reports with clarity and patience; as a colleague, he lends his keen problem-solving skills and good humor to others. Ken played an instrumental role in helping me feel welcomed and settled when I first joined the Playhouse family. Because of this, I consider him one of my closest colleagues and a lifelong source of professional support. I can say with absolute certainty that Ken Levin will be a tremendous asset to any organization.
