Inclusion Coach
-
Aug 2017 - Jul 2022
As inclusion coach, I support students with IEPs in accessing the general education curriculum in a variety of ways through their IEP, in the least restrictive environment. I coach regular ed and specials teachers to develop curriculum and lessons using UDL strategies. I collaborate with the OT, PT and speech and language teachers to provide integrated support and therapies. I also manage paraprofessionals in providing IEP accommodations and supports in the classroom. Another role I have taken on is development of system change and protocols especially around the use of seclusion and restraint reductions by implementing Ross Greene's ALSUPs and Plan Bs. I have also been involved in systematizing the referral process and developing tiers of supports prior to a referral, especially in the area of behavior and social emotional learning. Show less

Special Education Teacher
-
Sep 2009 - Jun 2017
I taught students with a variety of needs and disabilities in the 5th grade. My role as a team-teacher with my colleagues was very positive and we worked together to provide the best environment and instruction for all students. I have held many roles in my 7 years with the district including teaching in the 6th grade at Pulaski Community Middle School, providing homebound instruction for a student whose illness did not allow him to attend school, and leading the work experience program for special education students at the high school while a teacher was on medical leave. I also was the leader of our special education teaching team at Glenbrook and was the coordinator for the 5th to 6th grade transition for IEP students for all elementary schools to the middle school.
