Undergraduate Research Assistant - Hanrath Lab
-
Jan 2019 - Present
I am currently undertaking a project to apply principles of dynamic catalysis to electrochemical CO2 reduction. I run weekly electrochemical CO2 reduction experiments and analyze current densities and Faradaic efficiencies of reaction products. I also use density functional theory (DFT) to evaluate binding energies of CO2 reduction intermediates. I attend weekly group meetings and give one literature review presentation and one research presentation per semester.Previously, I used COMSOL Multiphysics to model conditions of the electrochemical carbon reduction reduction. I studied the impacts of electrolyte strength and electrode rotation rate on surface reaction conditions. I received a $4000 grant from Engineering Learning Initiatives at Cornell to work on this project full-time during summer 2020.
