Kelsey Johnson worked at Minnewaska Area Schools in December 2019-January 2020, as a paraprofessional substitute, while on a holiday break from college. She supported two young girls who were removed from their home and new to our school. Kelsey did a great job supporting the young girls as they were apprehensive and fearful of what a new school would be like. The instant connection helped the girls start to find their new normal at Minnewaska and set them up for success as they move forward. In addition, Kelsey was very dependable and professional in her role. We'd love to have her back working with students anytime she would be able! - Sarah Suchy (Elementary Principal) My name is Alicia Christman and I am a special education teacher at Minnewaska Elementary School. I work with students in kindergarten through third grade. I worked with Kelsey Johson when she was a substitute paraprofessional in our building. Kelsey worked with students with special education needs in the areas of: other health disabilities, specific learning disabilities, and developmentally cognitively delayed. Kelsey had a wonderful rapport with the students. Her ability to connect with the students allowed relationships to be established and trust built for when the students needed either encouragement or just somebody to listen to. She was prompt and always positive working with the students. She would provide support when they needed it, but also encouraged their independence when they could do it on their own. She showed flexibility when schedules would change. Show less
