Graduate Research Assistant
-
Aug 2015 - May 2018
I graduated from the TAMHSC-IBT graduate program and was a member of Dr. Jiang Chang's laboratory, in which we focused on cardiovascular disease and heart failure research. As a graduate student, my time mostly consisted of molecular biology research and other program curriculum. However, I remained heavily involved in the manuscript and grant writing/editing for the entire lab, which is still my primary interest.

Research Associate/ Lab Manager
-
Jul 2012 - Aug 2015
I spent over 3 years as a research associate/lab manager in a cardiology laboratory under the mentorship of Dr. Jiang Chang. The research mostly pertained to pathological cardiac remodeling and used a molecular approach to determine the associated cell signaling pathways and molecular mechanisms involved in cardiovascular disease development and progression. I heavily participated in manuscript and grant writing/editing and submission. During my time in Dr. Chang's lab I contributed to over 14 manuscripts and 15 grant submissions, which resulted in over $7.6 million in funding from NIH and AHA. I also managed general laboratory activities and safety compliance, maintained stringent data records, and was responsible for protocol composition and amendment. I ensured that all personnel, agents, and procedures were within the protocols and adhered to the NIH/TAMU/GLP guidelines.

Research Assistant
-
Aug 2010 - Jul 2012
I received approximately 2 years of experience as a research assistant in a molecular biology/developmental biology laboratory under the supervision of Dr. Brad A. Amendt. I assisted post-doctoral employees and graduate students with their research projects as well as conducted my own project. The research pertained to transcription factors involved in craniofacial and tooth development. I was also responsible for maintaining laboratory solutions, items, data records, and equipment, as well as familiarizing new lab members with laboratory protocols and procedures.
