Community Liaison Manager
-
Dec 2013 - Oct 2015
I was responsible for all internal and external communications for Taylor Woodrow BAM Nuttall JV, Principle Contractor for the upgrade of one of London's busiest Underground stations.CSR work included projects for local schools, doubling the amount of money raised for charity within a year of working on the project, and getting the project involved in the ICE's 'Engineering Happiness' film which promoted careers in engineering and received over 100,000 views. I used social media to promote the upgrade and its benefits to the public wherever possible, which included a project image tweet by the Prime Minister as part of a 'Building Britain' campaign. I managed the awards submission process across the project, which was successful in gaining a number of both national and international accolades including the 2014 Fleming Award, a RoSPA Gold Award and an NCE International Tunnelling and Underground Space Award.Production of clear and consistent communications was key to integrating with the the local community and planning works successfully. Communications Manager
-
Mar 2006 - Dec 2013
Communications Manager for Balfour Beatty Mott MacDonald JV, who were responsible for operating and maintaining motorways and trunk roads across Kent and Sussex on behalf of Highways England (now National Highways). I held various roles within the organisation leading towards the Communications Manager role for four years. I led a team of five and was responsible for all community liaison and communications produced by the project, both externally and internally. Complex stakeholder interfaces included the Port of Dover, Gatwick Airport and Eurotunnel and so early engagement was key in understanding and managing the impact of any works to ensure successful completion. Communications included external and internal newsletters, press releases and responses to approximately 400 queries per month, including all official correspondence such as Freedom of Information requests and questions from Parliament.
