I produced an hour-long newscast for the Fox affiliate in Boston. The show required me to think 2 to 3 steps ahead at all times. Beginning in January, I was required to participate in both the 7:30am desk call as well as the 9:30am editorial meeting to help decide the day's coverage. From 9am until 2pm, I was usually the only producer in the building. As a result, when news broke, I was often called upon to coordinate and produce the coverage. For example, when Ted Kennedy was diagnosed with cancer, I was responsible for boothing 5 hours of live breaking news coverage. I have also handled situations as diverse as Amber Alerts and courtroom verdicts. I worked closely with the writers for the show and assisted with training several of them to become producers.
