Examples include trips to the Detroit Science Center, Ypsilanti Community Middle School, University of Michigan, and the Detroit Zoo. Family Nights have included: EMU Family Writing Night, Mid-Winter Family Fun Night (77 in attendance), and Title I Science Night (106 in attendance). • Communicate and Coordinate with school day teachers for success of students; twice planned Title I Science Night with teachers for Holmes Elementary (100+ in attendance) and have co-planned 7 balanced calendar intersession weeks with Lead Teacher to create a schedule that included enrichment for 100+ students. • Weikart Center for Youth Development certified Trainer of Trainers: Youth Works Methods & Management • Major goals of our program include: -Increase student academic achievement & learning in non-academic areas -Increase student knowledge of career options and pathways -Increase the literacy of parents in the skills that will help their children in ELA and math -Increase student self-efficacy through leadership experiences and service learning -Develop grit and a growth mindset through trying new things, perseverance, failing forward and the belief that ability and skill are developed through dedication to hard work.
