As a contractor for the Department of Defense, I worked with Special Operations Forces Support Activities (SOFSA) to ensure that our troops had the best equipment available in order to safeguard our country. At Bluegrass Station, we mainly focused on modifications to the Army's Chinook and Blackhawk helicopters. My role in this process was to be a liaison between project managers, engineers, purchasing specialists, and the guys on the production floor... which was no simple task! Most of the employees in my department worked on the main production lines, which were fairly streamlined and ran smoothly. I was exceptionally good at solving problems when things didn't go according to plan, so I was assigned to the prototype projects... which were full of glitches to be worked out. I was also selected to work with an elite team called Priority Support. When our customer had an urgent need (like repairs to a crash-damaged aircraft), we were there to move heaven and earth to make the delivery as quickly as possible. Show less

I began my career as a Department of Defense contractor with L3 Communications at Bluegrass Station. As is often the case, a new company was awarded the contract when it came up for bid in 2010. Lockheed Martin picked up the projects we were working on, and I was selected to continue my position as a Production Planning and Material Control Specialist.
