Aubrey Jenkins
Kelly-Leanne served as our Recovery Program Intern at Samaritan Village during the summer of 2015. During her time with us she did invaluable research which has further established our therapeutic program. She helped to create documentation that we continue to use as an organization. Every task assigned to her was completed ahead of schedule, while still being done in a thoughtful and thorough manner. I highly recommend her knowing that whatever the organization, her friendly demeanor and professionalism will make her an asset.

Support Worker
-
Aug 2017 - Oct 2018
As a Support Worker I supported women and men who had experianced domestic abuse. This support was in both the community and in our purpose-built refuge. I carried out initial assessments with service-users to learn their story and identify the best form of support moving forward. The support I provided was a mixture of emotional support, practical advice and safety planning. I assisted service-users with making housing application, accessing legal help and supporting them in a court setting and providing confidential advice. In the refuge I worked 1:1 with the women in refuge and provided emotional and practical support. I assisted them in making applications to help them move out of refuge back into the community. I participated in the on-call rota and attended refuge to bring women and children into a safe environment regardless of the time of day. I also assisted with emergencies and ensure the safety of the women and children in the refuge through following the workplace's policies and procedures. #In addition to this, I also had further duties relating to IT. I helped create, update and maintain our two websites. I helped create and update the various pieces of paperwork we use across the three offices and provided on-going IT support to all staff members. I carried out assessments with all staff members to assess their level of IT competence and then provided further training to ensure they were able to complete their roles efficiently. I worked alongside the HR and Wellbeing Officer to ensure the organisation was compliant to the new Data Protection legislation - GDPR. I also assisted with the researching and ordering of various promotional items and created numerous information booklets to advertise and market all of our services.

Voluntary Receptionist
-
Oct 2015 - Jul 2016
My main duty is to answer all incoming calls to the Beacon and directing them to the correct people whilst maintaining confidentiality. I also prevent cold calls from getting through, to make sure staff aren't disturbed unnecessarily whilst they work. I also send emails and update the calender if necessary as well as completing other tasks for staff members when needed.During this time I also volunteered at the Brighton Half-Marathon on the behalf of the Sussex Beacon. I aided in directing and controlling traffic and aided with parking. Following this I also helped in the baggage collection point after the race had concluded. Both of these things required cooperation with fellow volunteers, following health and safety rules to ensure nothing was stolen or broken and organisation to make sure everything went smoothly.

I contacted local organisations to find out what services they offered the local community. Following this I made detail notes, so the additional information could be added to the system, therefore ensuring the updated information was available when people required help. I also helped with other administrative work such as photocopying, proof-reading and typing. I contacted local organisations to find out what services they offered the local community.
