My success as a counselor resulted in my promotion to Transition Coordinator, a supervisory role in which I oversee the daily happenings of the program. It is an honor to dedicate my life to social work, and this position has afforded me crucial knowledge not only as an educator, but as a leader.

Hudson Community Enterprises is a non-profit organization that provides job training to high school students with disabilities. HCE employs a team of Transition Counselors who take up to ten students to a local work site every school day, i.e. Marshalls, Walgreens, and Liberty Science Center, where they teach their students various jobs with the help of work site employees and managers. The hope is that the students will be hired by this company at the end of the school year.As a Transition Counselor, my job was to provide vocational, motivational and emotional support to my students. Their disabilities vary from physical to intellectual, requiring diverse levels of attention and lessons that are specifically catered to their needs. My students are not defined by their disabilities, and it is my duty to enhance their confidence and increase their skills in a retail environment.
