Special skills include teaching them all to drive (which should be a special category), and creating the conditions for their success as independent adults. All five have attended college, supported themselves, lived independently from the age of 18, and continued to have strong relationships with each other. I wasn't a perfect parent, but I have 5 pretty awesome adult children, so on balance, I did enough things right that they wanted to leave home and were capable of doing so.
