I am conducting research with Dr. William Bertrand within the Tulane SPHTM's International Health and Development department. We are exploring the relationship between public health behavior change and climate change, assessing contribution to global warming on the individual level in the United States and China. We hope to develop an app that aims to record individuals' everyday contributing actions to climate change, present solutions to reduce their impact, and compare their contribution to others'. I had the opportunity to participate in two public health research projects with Dr. Jeffrey Freeman, one of which dealt with conducting a systematic review of dried blood spot (DBS) testing methods in low-resource or post-disaster settings. This included compiling information pertaining to targeted analytes and general testing methodologies from the expansive Covidence database into our own specialized database. The project was funded by the JHU Bloomberg School of Public Health. The second project, jointly funded by the JHU Applied Physics Laboratory and the CDC, aimed to construct an ontological view of the United States federal government's disaster management system in order to inform relevant stakeholders, such as the Uniformed Services University of Health Sciences (USUHS), about potential gaps and redundancies in the system.
