I manage all professional scientific diving operations at the University of Plymouth. In addition I am the Module Leader for the Scientific Diving Module. I additionally lecture on Marine Conservation and supervisise BSc, MSc and PhD research projects. My research interests are marine ecophysiology and benthic ecology.

As a Government Officer I was the Commissioner's representative on South Georgia. Within this role I responsible for local management of fisheries worth £5m for toothfish, krill and icefish. My fisheries role included data management, vessel licencing and safety inspections. During the summer season I was responsible for management oversight of visits by 8000 tourists a year on up to 80 cruise ships and yachts. As part of my role I was the appointed Harbour Master and Customs Officer for in the region of 200-250 vessel visits to South Georgia a year. In was directly involved in the management and delivery of numerous large environmental projects including the SGHT Rat Eradication Project, GSGSSI Reindeer Eradication Project and GSGSSI Invasive Plant management. As a post-doctoral scientist I was responsible for carrying out and publishing high quality science. During my time at BAS I had three PhD students and was heavily involved in management of the BAS Professional Diving operations and recruitment of diving staff.
