  Responsible for developing and delivering a strategic communication plan for the Minister.My role extended beyond day to day media and had a strategic, forward-looking focus entrenched in helping develop and sell policy across the portfolio. I was heavily involved in shaping the strategic direction for the Minister, including helping mould policy that was sound but also saleable. I was a key contributor in the development of the Government’s $1.5 billion Modern Manufacturing Strategy, including a comprehensive communications plan. This included content for media pitching, engagement with industry stakeholders and government colleagues. This role finessed my skills of being able to communicate often complex decisions and policies to voters in a way that helped them appreciate the real-world impact. It has also seen me develop a very sound understanding of how policy and decision making interacts with different stakeholders - whether that be the general public, industry or internally within government.
