As an educator, I am passionate about teaching and mentoring through inclusive practices that encourage, inspire, and educate students using classroom-based, blended, and on-line instruction and performance assessment for a wide range of Kinesiology topics. In 2019, I was honored to be the first-ever recipient of The Conway Fellowship to assist with the UW Department of Kinesiology's Adapted Fitness Program (AF), run by Tim Gattenby. In AF, I co-mentor 300 students to safely provide hands-on assistance and personalized fitness instruction to 90 community-dwelling individuals with disabilities, diverse abilities, and chronic conditions. I also liaise with caregivers, donors, community organizations, student leadership organizations, and media outlets. Show less

As a researcher, I am interested in understanding the effects of physical activity on the psychosocial and physical health, well-being, and occupational performance of older adults, family caregivers, and individuals with disabilities, especially those with movement disorders. Working under the guidance of Dr. Kristen Pickett in the Sensory Motor Integration Lab, I work on translational research to develop evidence-based physical activity interventions. My scientific skill set includes platform presentations, grants and journal writing, clinical assessments, data collection/analysis, community outreach, and telehealth interventions. Show less
