  After completing my field practicum at United Way of Denton County. I was invited to return to work as an Eviction Prevention Specialist. My responsibilities include:-Researching and providing information and resource referrals for clients -Conducting intake assessments for clients seeking rent and/or utility assistance-Facilitating the application process by informing clients of program requirements, collecting necessary documents, submitting application, and following up on application outcomes-Advocating for clients by negotiating with landlords on late fees and eviction proceedings-Coordinating temporary hotel stays for clients experiencing homelessness-Collaborating with clients to set measurable and achievable goals with the long term goal of establishing stable housing-Managing a caseload of 40-60 clients at any given time Show less

  I completed my social work field practicum at United Way of Denton County as an Advocacy Intern. I worked under the CEO and the Director of Education and Workforce Initiatives with the primary of goal of drafting and presenting agenda items that advocate for support for intervention and prevention programs that make homelessness rare, brief and non-reoccurring, and policies that lower barriers and promote increase in affordable, available, and accessible housing in Denton County. My responsibilities as an Advocacy Intern at United Way included:-Examining existing policies at the state level -Assessing past agenda items and identify areas for improvement.-Collecting and interpreting data from the community needs assessment and translating findings into policy initiatives-Integrating racial equity into the policy initiatives -Presenting findings to partner agencies and participating in discussions to improve initiatives -Refining language of policy initiatives and present findings to community leadersAdditionally, I engaged in some financial coaching training and eviction prevention case management.
