As a diversity and inclusion employee we work to promote an equitable, diverse community at Hendrix. The Office of Diversity designs and implements sustainable policies, initiatives, and programming to increase and maintain diversity and ensure inclusion among Hendrix students, faculty, staff, administration, alumni, and the Board of Trustees.

Undergraduate Student Researcher

I worked as an undergraduate researcher at Hendrix College in the biochemistry department under the administration of Hendrix Faculty. My research entails virtual creation and testing of drugs that may lead to finding therapies for diseases like Alzheimer’s, seizures, and even heart failure. I am able to finely tune the skills of a researcher. These skills include time management, multitasking, trial-and-error working, paying attention to detail, and utilizing new computer imaging softwares.

Students for Black Culture President

I previously held the role of president for an organization of Hendrix College known as the Students for Black Culture. In this organization we foster a community to learn and experience black culture and provide a space for Black students to express their culture and a space where non-black students can support their peers and learn about their culture. As President, I delegate duties to the rest of my executive team and I am the face of the club on campus.

Dorm Hall Council Event Coordinator

As a member of a hall council I have cultivated my skills of proper planning for events, interpersonal relations, and expressing my ideas in a public setting. Along with making sure the voices of the students in my dorm heard, I was also allowed to be a model students to displaying conduct on and off of campus.

Orientation Leader

As a orientation leader at Hendrix College, I competed with hundreds on students at the college for the opportunity to influence the incoming freshmen of the year. The job of an orientation leader required extensive teamwork, problem solving skills, and great relations with people in order to make the students feel welcomed and wanted at their new home. One main goal was to foster positive social interactions between the new students to ensure a smooth flowing college campus
